Today we visited Clarcona Farm and Stables<\/a>.\u00a0 The kids had a blast, especially Ephraim!\u00a0 As soon as I told\u00a0Ephraim where we were going for today’s field trip, he could\u00a0hardly contain his excitement!!!<\/p>\n

FYI – Clarcona Farm is\u00a0NOT open to the public.\u00a0 You have to make an appointment to visit this farm.\u00a0 The owner, Linda Wetzstein, scheduled us\u00a0a tour with her two teenage daughters for $7.50 per child over the age of 2.\u00a0 The tour lasted for a good two hours, with the option of staying longer\u00a0to visit\u00a0with the animals\u00a0if we liked.<\/p>\n

First stop: Meeting the horses!<\/p>\n

…then feeding the horses hay.\u00a0 My kids were not shy at all about feeding the horses.\u00a0 I thought Caleb might be afraid to do this, but he wasn’t at all.<\/p>\n

Second stop: Meeting\u00a0the bunnies.\u00a0 At this point, Jeremiah wanted to get out of his stroller to play with the bunnies, ducks and chickens.<\/p>\n

This is a “no kill” farm, so the chickens do not get eaten…but they gave us some eggs.<\/p>\n

The highlight of the tour was the pony rides!<\/p>\n

After meeting the donkeys and riding ponies, we ate some lunch on the picnic tables out in the pasture.\u00a0 We didn’t have to worry about picking up food we dropped on the ground because the pigs, chickens and roosters were right there to eat it all up.<\/p>\n

After lunch, the kids got to go for a tractor ride.\u00a0 Linda sat on the tractor with each kid and let them drive.\u00a0 I really wanted to get a picture but my digital camera ran out of memory (it accidentally got pushed to the wrong setting).\u00a0 Oh well…<\/p>\n

Clarcona Farm was a lot fun!\u00a0 We definitely got our money’s worth and plan on returning soon.\u00a0 I was told they have a summer camp for kids were they do lots of chores and learn to work on the farm.\u00a0\u00a0 I could tell that Linda really loves what she does.\u00a0 What a great experience we had so close to home.<\/p>\n
